Dylan

PR - Engineer

joined in 2017

Hello, my name is Dylan. I am 16 years old, and this is my third year doing FTC.
I mainly concern myself with PR, altough I also help building the robot whenever that is necessary. With the new year and new members, my main goal is to keep the name of Team SPACE where it is, or even a little higher.
I am also taking care of the humor in the team.

Hey, my name is Laurens. I'm 17 years old, and one of the new members of the team. Programming is one of my hobbies, and it seemed really cool to join Team SPACE. I hope I can help as a programmer, and I also hope I can learn some new things too.

Luuk

Hello I’m Luuk, I am 13 years old.
This is my first year doing FTC.
Last year I did FLL and I really enjoyed that, so that's why I would like to continue that with FTC.
My brother Bas has been in Team SPACE for 4 years, so I've heard a lot about FTC already and I became very enthusiastic about it.

Hello, I am Raf, I’m 13 years old. I’m now in my second year of VWO.
Last year I did FLL and I really liked it. This is going to be my first year of FTC.
Because a friend of mine gave me a fun offer to do FTC with him.
I think I want to do some PR this year.

Sara

Engineer - CAD Designer

joined in 2019

Hello, I’m Sara and I’m 16 years old. This year will be my first year of FTC and because of that I don’t really know, yet, what my role in the team will be. I know FTC through Ronald, one of our coaches, and he made sure I got in the team. I really like working together with the team and I hope to learn a lot from them and other teams this year.

Taro

joined in 2019

Hi my name is Taro and I am 15 years old. This is my first year in Team Space and I am in Havo 3.
As activity I liked to do something next to my regular schoolwork but fór the school and meet other people that way. I find robots super interesting because you can do so much with them and I am curious to see how far we will get with our team in being able to have a robot do exactly what we want it to do. In my spare time I enjoy gaming, travelling and now of courseeeeeeeee joining the FTC!

Hi! I’m Thijs, 17 years old and I’m currently in my last year of VWO. This will be my third year of FTC and my first with FTC Team Space. Coaches

Ronald

Mentor

member from 2015 to

Hi, I’m Ronald, uncle of Sara (new member) and father of Casper (old member) and mentor of the three teams of the Newmancollege. When asked by the primary coach to join team S.P.A.CE. as coach, I didn’t have to think long. During my childhood, I played long hours with Lego and later on with the more technical Fischertechnik. The possibilities of Lego Technic I discovered after the birth of my son and daughter. The next step, Lego Mindstorms with the programming functions, I saw from a distance. How quick those options became standard features and how easily and quickly the youth adapts such technology still amazes me every day. So, when I have the opportunity to positively influence the youth towards technology I will say yes. Each year the Dutch Championship with its international character is a stunning experience. Given the opportunity to support the youth of our team S.P.A.C.E. during their St. Louis Championship of 2017 and the Detroit Championship of 2019 was a great experience for all of us. With two cracks of last year, one member of another Newmancollege team and five new members we are confident to make the most of this year’s challenge.

Dave

Coach

Hello, I am Dave, Dylan's outdated prototype. After 3 years of being an avid supporter of Team SPACE, I got asked to be a coach. No-brainer! It is both a priviledge and a fun challenge to work with this team of tallented and creative youth. I mostly look forward to seeing the development of both the team and the robot.

Considering the successes the team has already achieved, I've got big shoes to fill, but I won't back down from a challenge. With a background in Software Development, Project Management and Hospitality, I've got a strong basis to help the team.

Mariëlle

Coach

Hey! I am Mariëlle and I am coach of FTC team SPACE. Besides guiding the process of the team and the traveling abroad, I am Technator and Research & Design teacher at the Newmancollege.

Bas

Advisor

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi I’m Bas. I was a member of team Space for 4 years and I was one of the founding members of the team. During my years at team Space I learned a lot about a lot of things, I also had a lot of fun. I’m proud of our growth over the 4 years. We started off as rookies who couldn't do anything and we ended up as the most successful Dutch FTC team. My highlights were the 2 trips we made to the world finals in the US. Good luck to all future members of the team and don’t forget to have a lot of fun.

Nigel

Advisor

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi, I'm Nigel, ex-software engineer and one of the founders of Team SPACE. In the last years I've done amazing things and learned a lot. I've seen the team grow from rookies to the team that made it to the world finals twice.

As an advisor, I strive to bring my four years of FIRST Tech Challenge knowledge to the new team members. Because of this, our knowledge won't be lost and it will stimulate members to better develop themselves.

Anne-Wil

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Hi my name is Anne-Wil, I only did FTC for one year and it was really great and I learned a lot of things.

Bart

Engineer - Socials

member from 2015 to 2019

I have been part of FTC team SPACE for four wonderful years. I've been able to take part in the most difficult challenges and I've enjoyed the journeys we've made a lot! I have learned a great deal in these 4 years, such as how to approach companies and how to maintain contact with them. On the technical side I learned to think creatively and mainly think in solutions not in problems. Now it's time for a new adventure. I'm studying Maritime Technology in Rotterdam. Here I will be educated as a Maritime engineer. See ya later Space!

Ben

Engineer - Driver

member from 2015 to 2019

Hey! My name is Ben Esseling and I was a member of Team SPACE from 2015 until 2019. In those four years I’ve learned a lot in both the mechanical and the social aspects. I’ve also had loads of fun with this teams, especially on our two trips to the US and one to Italy. I won’t miss it as I’m a member of FRC team Rembrandts and I will obviously stay and continue to mentor Team SPACE!

Björn

Engineer

member from 2015 to 2019

Hi, I'm Björn! Since the first year of Space I've been busy with the mechanical and electrical engineering that goes into the robot. My time over FTC was an amazing experience and I've learned a lot.

Casper

Engineer - CAD Designer

member from 2015 to 2019

These years as a member of Team Space have been wonderful. Starting out as a rookie team and progressively getting better and mastering the skills of FTC, tackling challenges with the whole group throughout the years and just learning so much important skills which I will use forever. But especially through university, which is where I can be found during the following years. I wish Team Space a bright future :)

Kyra

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Heya, I'm Kyra, one of the engineers of FTC team Space in 2018. In one year I've mastered so many skills, from learning how to build and repare parts of a robot, to giving proper presentations and how to contact other teams and companies. FTC was a wonderful experience. I'm very glad to have taken part in this team. I hope team Space will continue to exist, and that the new members will make as valuable and fun memories as I have made.

Simone

Engineer

member from 2018 to 2019

Olav

Engineer

member from 2017 to 2018

Hi! i am Olav, this was my first and my last year in Team S.P.A.C.E. This has been a great experiance what i will never forget. With great building sessions and off course the matches in Aviano. Unfortunately i have to go to my HBO Study Automotive. I had a really fun year and you will see me around the FTC matches!

Ray

Engineer

member from 2015 to 2018

I am Ray and I'm 18 years old. I finished my Havo at the Newmancollege and I'm currently studying Automotive Engineering at Fontys. My time in Space was extremely fun and I learned a lot. Working together in a group is very important and it's interesting to see that it's the same at my school. I used to be mainly focussed on the robot. Mostly doing CAD-design and 3D printing. The journeys we made are amazing memories and I would definitely recommend checking out FTC some time.

Tessel

PR

member from 2015 to 2018

Thomas

Engineer

member from 2017 to 2018

Hey, I’m Thomas and last year I was part of Team Space. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. I was an engineer and even though I was able to follow everything, I decided to quit Team Space and continue my FTC career at GenleBotz. The reason I made this decision is actually quite simple. I prefer working on a robot without a tight schedule and that’s just not going to cut it at Space. This, however, is simply not the case at GentleBotz. Space was a nice team and was definitely worth it.
